About Cumberland Quail & Farm

Welcome to Cumberland Quail & Farm — we’re glad you stopped by.

Our farm sits on the South Cumberland Plateau above Jasper, Tennessee, where we’re working to develop our 50 acres into a small, productive farm focused on raising healthy animals and producing quality food.

Cumberland Quail & Farm began with a simple goal: to build a farm that grows thoughtfully over time while sharing the experience with others who appreciate good food, responsible farming, and the land that makes it possible.

Building a Working Farm

For Darryl and Meredith Simpson, Cumberland Quail & Farm represents the beginning of a long-term vision to build a working farm that develops carefully over time.

Darryl grew up working on large-acre farms, where he learned firsthand the value of hard work, caring for the land, and producing food the right way. Those early experiences helped inspire the couple’s desire to develop their own property into a productive farm.

Today they are working to develop their 50-acre property on the South Cumberland Plateau into a place where animals are raised responsibly, the land is cared for, and quality food is produced for others to enjoy.

One of the most meaningful parts of the journey has been the community around them. The neighbors in this area have been incredibly welcoming and supportive, showing Darryl and Meredith what it truly means to be surrounded by good people. Around here that might mean lending a hand when the tractor craps out, getting a tow out of the mud, or having a new BFF.

Coturnix quail became the first focus of the farm because they are one of the most practical and efficient birds for small farms and homesteads. They require little space, mature quickly, and produce nutritious eggs enjoyed around the world.

By raising quail in small batches with careful attention to healthy environments and proper nutrition, Cumberland Quail & Farm is able to produce strong birds and high-quality eggs for families, homesteaders, and food lovers across the region.

As the farm continues to grow, Darryl and Meredith plan to thoughtfully expand across the property — improving the land, building new farm infrastructure, and exploring additional ways to produce quality food from the farm.

For now, the focus remains simple: raising healthy quail and producing fresh eggs the right way.
